There are various reasons why a remote control utility can be very useful. A system administrator may need to perform certain actions on multiple computers or retrieve specific information, a user might need some help with certain settings and the examples can go on. NetWire comes with its own advantages, which are not provided by all remote control utilities. It allows you to monitor and control multiple computers at the same time, manage their files, applications or processes and much more.

The software doesn't need to be installed. You have to unpack its files from a 3.25 MB archive and run the executable. The best part is the fact that NetWire is cross platform. You can run the software on a Windows powered computer and control other machines, with different operating systems, like Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris or Windows.

Established connections are listed on the main user interface, which contains an events log as well. You can add new hosts and change their connection settings on separate windows. Besides a host's ID, you may specify its password and set it to ASCII or hexadecimal and make various adjustments on separate tabs. The software will use these settings to build an executable, which you must run on remote computers.

You can right click a listed connection to reveal a series of useful options. The software allows you to capture remote desktops and control them, set up bandwidth limitations, enable a keylogger and more. It is also possible to explore a computer's files and folders and transfer them from one machine to another. The software uses the 256-bit AES encryption algorithm to protect any file transfers.

NetWire can establish a connection between computers over the Internet or a local network. Passwords are very important when it comes to controlling remote computers. This is why NetWire comes with a built-in password generator. You can use it to create any number of passwords, with a single click. You may also include various characters and symbols and make your password as long and complicated as you want.

Pros

NetWire allows you to monitor and control multiple computers at the same time. You can set bandwidth limitations, monitor keystrokes, transfer files and more. The software is cross platform, which means that you may control other machines, with different operating systems.

Cons

You may need some time to figure out how to establish a connection between two or more computers. NetWire gives you full control over remote computers, regardless of their used operating systems.
